A 34-year-old man from Lenvik in Troms was shot and killed in Brazil Thursday. His friends claim he was executed.
The Norwegian was robbed by three men before he was killed with three shots to the head, TV 2 reports.
«I can confirm that a Norwegian was killed in Natal Thursday morning after being victim of a robbery attempt,» said Torbjørn Holthe, the Norwegian consul-general in Rio de Janeiro, to the Norwegian paper VG.
A friend of the deceased, who also was also present during the robbery, was injured. The murder happened in the middle of the day local time in the costal city of Natal.
Looked at a property
The deceased was married with a Brazilian woman, and he currently worked and lived in the vacation city Natal in Brazil.
According to the Norwegian paper Dagbladet, the Norwegian was looking at a property he was going to buy when three unidentified men shot him.
«He was travelling out there to buy land, but I don’t think this was an ordinary robbery,» said Reinaldo Nepomuceno Jr., friend of the deceased. «All his valuables were still there. They did not take his money, watch or documents. I think he was executed.”
Brazilian police said that the Norwegian was about to buy a 26 floors high rise apartment building in the big city of Ponta Negra when he was killed. The 34-year-old was going to sell apartments to Scandinavians who were going to move to Brazil, according to the Brazilian paper Cotadiano.
Money
According to the Norwegian news bureau (NTB), the Norwegian had allegedly about NOK 18,000 (USD 2647) in cash in his car.
Natal is a vacation spot which has become more and more popular, also among Norwegians. Not long a go opened the travel company Saga Solreiser a charter flight from Norway to the Brazilian town.
